Listen to Donna talk about how you can use this work to discover a new relationship to stress and your nervous system
I was so relieved to read the article - How Yoga Can Wreck Your Body in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine.
I started studying Yoga with Swami Boa in the early 1980's and soon jumped whole-heartedly into Iyengar study and teaching. Very quickly, by 1986 or so, I was noticing my yoga teachers had injuries that seemed to be caused by yoga. I checked out Kripalu, Bikram and Satchidnanda, Ashtanga styles and found teachers with injury seemingly caused by Yoga in those traditions too.
This led me into the approach to Yoga I have developed since then. I ask a few simple questions and they guide how I teach Yoga and movement re-patterning. My work is very gentle because it is centered on encouraging your own body's wisdom to guide the movements that are best for you. This leads to a gentle support that is strong, balanced and flexible.
There are still some spaces left in my gentle and individually paced Body Wisdom Classes. I am also available for private lessons and Yoga Therapy.
